FPV Use of Git2 with Latest Firmware Installed

I bought the Git2 to use as a recording FPV camera to replace a Mobius v3. I bought this as the reviews reported that the camera handled direct light better. I have the purpose made GitUp FPV cable. I tested the camera in the plane today and I am very very very disappointed with the quality of the FPV picture. So much so I am wondering if I have bought a Knock Off!!
  1. It is installed in a purpose built FPV plane that has a clean 5volt supply used for the Mobius and Pixem Seawolf, Aomway 5.8 vtx, all filtered and cabled correctly, no ground loops.
  2. I have the video menu set to car mode so it is supposed to start recording when power is supplied through the red/black cable and it does not do this, the shutter button has to be pressed.
  3. The image through the goggles and monitor is truly awful! It is dark, blurred, tinged with blue and has fuzzy diagonal stripes across the image that roll across the screen.. The mobius, a £50 camera, is far superior with colour and contrast. All the exposure settings are factory stock. I have no idea if any of the settings affect the live FPV signal.
  4. The camera gets very hot with the FPV cable plugged in, it does not get even warm when charging or used as a PC camera. After 5 minutes it stopped working on FPV altogether so it was a good job I had the abillity to swith live feed to the mobius or I could have lost the plane.
  5. There is more lag than a GoPro and the Mobius making proximity flying impossible. Probably 50% more.
  6. Loop setting does not work. On a ground test when the card was full the AV out (goggles view) went off.
If any other users on here are using this camera as a live feed FPV camera I would be interested in your views and experiences and well as viewing your recorded ground station videos before i send this back as not fit for purpose. This is so disappointing.

Definitely something wrong there, I've tested the latency of the Git2 and i very good for this kind of camera. Do a test bench without powering up the camera via an UBEC, try with the Git's battery, maybe there is some switching noise that messes thing up.

I get:
80-100 ms lag for live view
~ 150 ms lag when recording 1080p@60fps

I agree there is something wrong. The test I did was 3 ways: usb from PC, git2 on board power and ubec on the plane. All I wanted was a camera that recorded 2k and was better than a Möbius. Also the focus is off, and the contrast and brilliance. Something else, changing settings such as iso, frame rate, wdr on off, makes no difference at all to the recorded picture or the AV out picture. Loop recording is supposed to continue recording by writing over the earlier files but mine does not. It just has a screen message saying card full. Am I correct in thinking that the AV out is fixed in terms of exposure, frame rate, wdr etc? Unlike the board cams? Also the AV out to monitor or goggles is tiny. My möbius and Seawolf fill the screen, the git 2 leaves a big black border and a tiny view, it doesn't fill the screen. And the power button doesn't click, it squeaks! Just my luck, I research action cams for months, wait 4 weeks for delivery, 3D print a pan and tilt, and I end up with either a knock off or a lemon. Should have just bought a GoPro 3 or a runcam2.
The trouble is I got this from BangGood and the cost of return to China is too high plus the chance of getting it through customs at that end is also unlikely. I would like to have someone who knows the git2 camera and has one that works 100% check out this camera. I would then like to try their camera on my FPV set up to see if it is worse, same or better. The answer is to sell on eBay or a forum and move on. Life's too short to stress over Been no conned for £80.

On my small 7" lcd i get full image, are you using the gitup's fpv cable ? I'll add a video later with the FPV / monitor / image.
Drop an email to gitup, he'll answer quickly maybe he can help you.

I don't currently have a dvr to record the fpv footage but you can see here for a glimpse the screen image (fully sized).

And here is a bench test of the Git2+ eachine 832 series 600mW TX/RX and the same LCD screen:

I took the camera out today for a walk. It was a sunny typical UK winters day. Good viz and light. Camera was on default settings with gyro on. I think the images are fuzzy and underexposed especially at around 4 to 5 mins.

I surprised no one has commented on the video. Is it so bad, out of focus etc etc

I'm not sure I would have expected different - having the sun in centre screen triggers the centre weighted exposure - try switching to full screen weighting for a better average, or spot and keep the centre on what you want to expose correctly. The giro can only do so much and you are walking over rough ground swinging the camera around rapidly.

What version of Git2 firmware are working for FPV?

I am trying to add a 5.8GHz FPV system on my drone and the AV cable from my new Git2 no show any image.

He has tested it with an Olympus camcorder and its AV cable, and with a camera of another brand but similar to Git2 that lent me and runs the whole system correctly.

@maker it works with all firmware versions you need to use a GoPro4 / GitUp video cable, use video signal (generally yellow) and ground (black). If you power the GitUp also be use to supply exact 5V, some 5.8GHz FVP transmitters output battery voltage or 12V and will burn out the Git2 !

@TechTronic9000 I used the official Git2 cable from Amazon and it does not work, I guess the cable would be wrong because with my old camera the FPV system works perfectly; I bought another one in gitstore and I'm waiting for it to arrive.

I am still not using the power connector, but i bought one 5V 3A UBEC converter to power the Arduino MicroMinim OSD and Git2 for use with the car mode.

Thank for your reply.

Where can I buy a RELIABLE Gopro4/gitup cable that works??
I have mine from GitUp, I also bough a cheap "random" one for GoPro 4 and it also works. I have an extra one included with one of my TS5823 200mW transmitter, it's for GoPro and also works with the Git2.

TechTronic9000; What setting does the GIT have to be set to for FPV monitoring? TV out? Car m
ode?

Figured it out! Had to switch Git2 to CAR MODE and NTSC. Everything is now working.
