It is entirely possible that I was shipped old stock as it was June 2017 whereas the cutoff date was April 2017 (only 2 months before). The new style has the angled (folded) connectors...

I have this same problem with my A119 V2. I bought a replacement GPS which said for models after April 2017 (mine was purchased in June 2017 from Viofo via Amazon) and it is apparently not compatible at all. The camera works without the GPS and with the power connected directly to the camera but...
