Bad Idea?

I recently bought a new Jeep GC and hooked up my A129 Duo. After a few days I noticed that the USB port behind the center console that I plugged the dashcam in to has constant power. 3 days straight of footage on my microSD.

Here's what I'm wondering,
Do I just leave it plugged into the back USB port with constant power? If so, what settings would you recommend for parking mode, bitrate, etc. so it only records on motion detection and not 24/7 and doesn't hurt the battery.

Or, do I hardwire with the SpyTec hardwire kit I have? I read a few things about having to put it into parking mode every single time I leave my vehicle though, then turn it off once I return, is this true? What settings would you recommend if I hardwire using this kit? (Hardwire Kit I have available if needed)
