Hi!

Can I use a powerbank with an output of 5V and 2A to charge the battery in the camera?

In the "quick start guide" an output of 5V and 1A is recommended, but my friends told me an output of 5V and 2A will also work and won't damage the camera or the battery.

Can you confirm this?

Yes, it should drop down, 2A means maximum draw,
0.5A is just a bit too weak which is why they say 1A
