Git2 USB Control

The HDMI port is already streaming video back to my application, so using the special hdmi cable wouldn't work. What I need to know is if it is possible to sent commands to the Git2 via the USB? I need to at least be able to start / stop video and take pictures.

It's impossible to use a USB cable..

THe only problem is I am already using the HDMI port. They don't have a special cable that allows you to do the remote shutter and maintain video out.
