MOD2 custom FW released.

What's new comparing to stock 1.40:
  • Flat color profile added instead of useless 'Sepia' color setting.
  • 960P mode transformed into '4:3P' 1440x1080p30 with bitrate values 25/14/8 for High, Med and Low setings.
  • WVGA mode transfomed into 'CCTV' mode - High bitrate = 720p10 1200kbps, Med bitrate = 720p10 800kbps and Low bitrate = 720p8 600kbps.
  • AE table adjusted.
  • High bitrate value for 1080p30 raised to 30Mbps, Med = 14Mbps, Low = 8Mbps.
  • Photo resolutions changed: 12M - 3840x2880, 8M - 2880x2160, 5M - 1920x1440, 3M - 1440x1080

Is it possible to reduce the angle of view through firmware. A choice of 70° or at least sub 90° would be very useful. I find that the 160/120 on offer are still two wide for many applications.
Thanks again for your efforts.

I think it is possible, but the image quality will be awful. You should better try to change the lens.

Thanks nutsey. I have this feature on my Sj 5000 and the picture quality is great. Even at 720p resolution, Ideal for dashcam use as car number plates are easily readable. If I had the same on my Git 1 I would be a happy bunny.

Git1 will never be the same with SJ5000 for one simple reason: it records 1920x1080 out of 1920x1080 sensor while SJ5000 has 4320x3252 pixel count.

Thanks again nutsey.. I understand what you say.. shame my Sj doesn't have as good low light performance as the Git1 Nothing is ever perfect I guess.

Unfortunately there is always a balance between pixel count (resolution and details) and pixel size (dynamic range and low light performance) when we speak about consumer level devices.
