Settings
1080p 60fps
iso auto
ev 0
gyro ON

on outdoor it is smooth, gyro is smooth it is like being attached to a gimbal.
but indoor like my house it lags in fps. Somehow it becomes around 20 fps for a second. It seems it struggles adjusting to light indoors.

Does anyone have the same problem? I also have the latest firmware.

You need to use Gyro with enough light, such as outdoor activities. This is how it's made for and when it will be the most effective

Also when the camera doesn't have enough light will go from to 60 fps to 30 fps to have more light

I guess gitup performs poorly indoors because i have my sjcam 5kx and tested both with gitup2. sj5kx does not lag indoors at 1080 60fps. I will upload the video and post a link here.

If you have the 5Kx limited than it only has a 4mpix sensor, the Git2 has 16mpix, you first need to understand the difference between image sensor physical size, resolution and light sensitivity. You will have the possibility soon to manually adjust the video options so you may select higher frame rate / smoother / sharper video but you are going to need more light.

So does that mean this is normal for gitup2?

by the way i have the sj5kx elite. not the limited edition.16mp vs 12mp really does get different when zoomed in.

Watch it HD at 1080 full screen. At around ten seconds. My other action does not do that. If that is normal to git2 then I rest my case.

Can you repeat the test with Gyro OFF ? Also there is a new FW update coming that it will improve some thing.

The camera switches automatically from 60 fps to 30 when transitioning from powerful light to low light. With the next firmware update, the image will be smoother, also you are going to be able to manually lock the camera shutter speed which will make the image very smooth.

Hi TechTronic9000,

Were you referring to the 1.4 firmware update that was recently released? If so, then I'd like to report that I have been having a really bad time trying to get smooth video out of the camera except for clips taken in direct sunlight. Turning on/off the gyro does not seem to make a difference. Lowering the programmable bitrate does not seem to make a difference. Boosting the exposure does not seem to make a difference. Changing the resolution and frame rate does not seem to make a difference :-(

I really want to enjoy this camera. I bought it a couple of weeks ago for a vacation coming up later this week. But now I'm afraid that all of the videos will be choppy - regardless of any of the above settings.

Can you advise when the firmware will release with the option to maintain the frame rate regardless of light intensity?

Thanks.

I just noticed an "added feature" in the release notes for the 1.4 firmware:

Added: Video shutter speed option: Auto, 1/30s, 1/60s, 1/120s, 1/240s, only works while ISO is not set for Auto;

I don't know why this would be considered a feature. However, I did notice a big difference in the amount of video stutter when I changed the ISO setting from Auto to anything else. Of course, this probably means that transitions from good light to low light will not turn out great. But at least the stuttering appears to be better with this work-around.

Hi TechT,

Can you say if the 1.5 firmware has the feature you mentioned that maintains the 60fps even in low light conditions? It is not mentioned in the release notes :-(

Thanks.

Yes you can manually lock iso and shutter speed.

Hi again,

I have used the manual locks for ISO and shutter speed. But those are different from frame rate. No?

The original issue was that the camera auto-flipped into 30fps mode when the light became low.

Do you know if this is still the case with the 1.5 firmware?

Thanks.

Hi all. Does anyone know the answer to this? Is there a GitUp representative available to answer these types of questions?

It would be really nice not to have the camera automatically shift to lower frame rates depending on available light - even if it means increasing the risk of under-exposure.

Thanks.

This will be improved in next 1.6 version, beta version for testing will be released soon, no frame drop in 1080P 60fps mode at low light condition.
