HD Out seems to be SD

i connected an HDMI cable to the HD Out but the image is only 640x480. i can't find a setting to change it to hd. how can i do this? i am not interested in recording. i just want to use it as an hd camera.

Please check the resolution while you playback the video via HDMI.

i am unable to get it to playback via hdmi. the screen just freezes. i will keep trying but are you saying that it only outputs hd when playing back? can this camera output an hd preview image? i am not using it for recording, only as a camera for live preview.

According to the chipset platform spec, it can output 1080P video via HDMI.
