In the version option in the settings, when it mentions what firmware you have, it should say P after the Git2 if its the panasonic version

If you want it multifucntion, put an IR filter over the lens and then it wont have purple hue.
The puple hue is because you are capturing natural IR radiation. which you get in daylight...
Some car USB act as a memory stock reader, ie put some mp3 on a usb memory stick and car can play them. So when you plug in some dash/action cams the car tries to read the contents, so camera goes in to storage mode.
Quick fix is to use the cigarette lighter adapter to connect to 12v socket...
Thats the thing, the camera was arketed to protect uber drivers etc by watching the passengers , therefore you want night vision but if there is a bit of pink in daytime, it wont matter, they werent designed to point out the back window as a rear view camera.
for rear view you want the non IR...
The pink is because of natural IR light, the IR filter blocks IR, making natural colour, but it will also stop the light from the IR leds.
so as Capture Your Action says, would serve no purpose
However BIll says they might release a version next year than has manual IR cut filter that would fix...
